Maria has been writing, and critiquing in various writing communities for the past 20 years. She completed her MFA in Fiction Writing at Portland State University. Her stories have appeared in literary magazines such as: Post Road and Harpur Palate, among others. Her short story for children Tide Pools, appeared in Highlights Hello Baby, in 2019. In previous lives Maria has lived in NYC, and Somerville, MA. She has worked as a teacher and naturalist, and enjoyed hiking, rock climbing and boxing. Currently, Maria lives with her family near Portland, Oregon. When she isn't writing or caring for her children, she can be found on the Oregon Coast tide-pooling. Strange fact: Maria has not yet traveled around the world, with the very odd exception of the summer she lived in St. Petersburg, Russia, studying Russian literature. |
